Cinema: The Diving Bell and the Butterfly

Magazine editor Jean-Dominique Bauby lives his life to the full, surrounded by children, women and friends - when one day, out of the blue, a massive stroke makes him captive of his own body, victim of the rare 'locked-in syndrom'. He can only communicate by blinking his left eye - and that's how he dictated the book on which this 2007 film is based.

"Nothing in director Julian Schnabel's career so far has anticipated the sweetness, sadness, maturity and restraint of this lovely movie." The Guardian
