When his friend and employer Henry dies unexpectedly, Finbar (Peter Dinklage) has to leave his sheltered life as a model train shop assistant and take a leap into the unknown. He moves to the abandoned train depot that Henry left him in his will in the hope to achieve the state of solitude he thinks he longs for, but soon gets confronted to a brand new kind of problem: people trying hard to become his friend.
It's sad but not quite drama, funny but not quite comedy, a lovely little film that takes us on a journey from loneliness to friendship.
"Tom McCarthy has a gift for funny and touching nuances . . . The three actors could not be better. Huge feelings are packed into this small, fragile movie. It's something special."
- Peter Travers, Rolling Stone
